Climbing the Walls
We are all climbing the walls being stuck at home! Today’s challenge- Use Legos to make a ball climb the wall instead!
Hello Inventors!
Well, here we are – at home with lots of schoolwork to do but not much else and we are starting to climb the walls out of boredom! But wait! That bin of Legos looks like a lot more fun! It is true. But first, spend a few hours on school work today and know that I have an awesome challenge for you once you are done!
Today’s challenge is to use Lego blocks to move a ball 3 feet UP the wall.
Yes– up the wall. No Lindsey, you may not touch the ball with your hands. No Thomas, you may not start above and come down. The ball must start on the floor and move up and come to a full stop 3 feet UP the wall.
Hint: Remember your simple machines! Lever, pulley, inclined plane, wheel and axle, wedge and screw.
Don’t have enough Lego? No problem- use what you’ve got! Cardboard, boxes, Popsicle sticks etc.. would work well too!
How high is 3 feet? Measure it before you start! Use a yard stick or a foot ruler three times over.
What kind of ball? Anything you’ve got! Ping pong ball, bouncy ball, tennis ball or if you want a real challenge- a basketball! (just kidding, although if you do it I want to see it!).
Feel free to put a picture of what you come up with in the comments section below! I’d love to see it.
Did you Know? There is a debate about the plural of Lego! Some people contend it is Lego, others say Legos, and still others say Lego’s. Ask Mom or Dad to join you in a quick google search on the topic!
GOOD LUCK!
From our BnT Inventor’s…
